This is a residence on the coast of Deer Isle, Maine. The client wanted a retreat where they could relax, entertain, and eventually retire. The sloping site afforded a walk-out basement for two bedrooms, two baths, storage, office and rec. room. The main floor includes living/dining, kitchen, den and screen porch. The second floor houses the master bedroom suite.
The basement stone veneer by Dennis King Masonry is installed over ICF (insulated Concrete Forms) for better thermal performance.
The roof is standing seam painted Galvalume and the wall shingles are pre-dipped eastern white cedar shingles.
The interiors were trimmed with Douglas fir and white oak.
